The big risks of little Armenia

The vast majority of the Armenian population is a supporter of the European path of development and really wants to escape from Russian influence. But look at the borders of Armenia and imagine what problems this country is facing on the way to integration with the European Union.

To the east is Azerbaijan, which does not hide its expansionist aspirations towards Armenia. To the south is the Islamic Republic of Iran, which, although it assures Armenians that it is a supporter of the inviolability of borders in the region, is unlikely to object to Armenia becoming Russia's outpost in the South Caucasus again.

Firstly, it is accepted, and secondly, it will save Iran from worrying that the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem will partially or completely capture Armenia and block its northern borders with roads to the Black Sea. In the southeast is the already mentioned Turkey, which has repeatedly promised through Erdogan to help Azerbaijan in all its actions against Armenia. The only road of life is Georgia, which, like Armenia, is at the epicenter of geostrategic confrontation. And above all, it is the threatening presence of Russia, which considers the South Caucasus its traditional sphere of influence and is going to strangle Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in its arms.

Armenia sees the efforts of the Western Coalition, represented by France, the United States, Greece, and now the United Kingdom, aimed at helping Armenia avoid dangerous developments, but they are far from naive, believing that the collective West is making these efforts only to preserve the sovereignty and integrity of democratic Armenia. Armenia understands that the actions of the West in Armenia are part of the plan in the confrontation with Russia, and by and large in the confrontation with China. People say it's a pity that we have to go to the West against the background of the great confrontation between West and East, but, unfortunately, no one will give another chance to jump into the right car of the right train.

At the same time, people want to be sure that Western countries are really doing everything to increase Armenia's defense capability, because they understand that the peace treaty signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia under strong Western pressure will turn into a simple piece of paper if only Donald Trump wins the US presidential election. Under these conditions, Azerbaijan, with the support of Russia and Turkey, will undoubtedly attack Armenia.
