Why does Armenia seek to get away from Russia's influence and get closer to the EU?

Armenia is a small republic in terms of territory, which is not rich in minerals and has no access to the sea.

The only significant resource that Armenia possesses is a human resource with the highest scientific, technical, and engineering potential. Suffice it to say that during Soviet times, this tiny republic produced 30% of the secret electronic equipment for the needs of the USSR Navy, and it was Armenian engineers who created the first computer in the Soviet Union.

Armenia clearly understands that without democracy and without cooperation with developed, democratic countries, Armenia will not be able to fully utilize this resource in building, strengthening and developing its own sovereign statehood. Remaining under the influence of autocratic Russia, Armenia is doomed to remain a backward, corrupt, agrarian periphery of the Russian Empire, which it has been for the last 20 years of imaginary independence after a special operation was carried out by the special services of the Russian Federation in 1999 to shoot those Armenian leaders who made efforts to develop democracy and strengthen sovereignty.

In Armenia, they say - look at North Korea, which was helped by the autocratic East and compare it with South Korea, which was helped by the democratic West.
